DISTRICT 4  |  City of Pomona

The City of Pomona is divided into six Council districts. There are six council members and a mayor elected by the voters of the district that they represent. District 4 sits south of the 10 and north of the train tracks (for the most part), on Pomona's east side between Garey Ave and Mills Ave. Based on the most recent Census and other data, District 4 has a population of 26,570 residents.

District 4 has four city parks (Lincoln, Garfield, Jaycee, and Montvue) and a small park at Holt Family Apartments which includes outdoor space, a playground, a basketball court, community gardens, a community space for use by the tenants and the surrounding community. It includes one historic district (Lincoln Park), and many beautiful historic homes throughout the entire district. After closures, District 4 currently has five Pomona Unified schools (Kingsley Elem, Alison Elem, Emerson Middle, Village HS, & Park West). District 4 has one LA County Fire Department Station (183) on San Antonio.

City of Pomona Council members are elected for over-lapping four-year terms. This election cycle (2024), Council seats in districts 1, 4, and 6 are open, as well as the Mayoral seat. Each Council member is nominated by and represents the district in which they live. The City Council selects one of its members as Vice-Mayor, excluding the mayor, every eight months. The current Council member, Elizabeth Cole, has been in office since 2016.

Incorporated in 1888, the City of Pomona has a rich past and exciting future. Pomona is a city with a bright vision for its future, and is dedicated to the quality of life for our diverse community.

Challenges in District 4 range from the more obvious challenges like human trafficking throughout our corridors, to more difficult to see challenges like having a 64.9% child poverty rate (40% higher than the City average). PUSD has closed three elementary schools in District 4 (Pueblo, Montvue, San Antonio) due to enrollment loss and birthrate decline.
